This cartoon is inspired by the haiku competition organized by The Guardian last week to celebrate International Apostrophe Day  (#apostropheday on Twitter).

One of the speech bubbles is very similar to the the winning haiku  by @ApostropheLaw:  “I’ve run out of food./I’m going to eat the dogs./What apostrophe?”

If you find the misuse of the apostrophe irritating you can report the instances you encounter to the Apostrophe Protection Society.
